Very nice place

We stayed here on our bike trip on the Otago Rail Trail. This is a very bike friendly, modern hotel. The rooms are very clean and very large and our room had a small kitchen. There is a secure bike storage room
and laundry facilities available. The breakfast room was big and the breakfast was quite good. We were able to use the room and the barbecue equipment in the evening to cook our dinner.

Bike riders well looked after

We were booked in for a night whilst on the Otago Rail Trail and couldn’t have been more welcomed.
Undercover bike storage with power points to recharge our e-bikes, free laundry (including washing powder) and a good bed.
Breakfast was plentiful and included in the tariff
Would highly recommend

Lovely place to stay

The motel’s decor is lovely, great choice of furnishings with comfortable lounge chairs and bed. The rooms (studios) are large and there are also one bedroom units. Underfloor heating in the bathroom is fantastic! Heat pump provided a lovely warm environment. The rooms are quiet. The TV is small, it would be great to have a larger screen. There is a fabulous communal kitchen and dining room with two large dining tables and lounge furniture. Unfortunately we did not use this room, but it looked very inviting and comfortable. There is also a large communal spa room. the owner/ manager is friendly, obliging and nothing is a bother.

Great Accomodation in Ranfurly

Wonderful accommodation enjoyed on completion of the 2nd day of the rail trail coming from Clyde.
Comfortable large bed, great shower, flat screen TV, microwave and tea and coffee making facilities. In addition the property has a spa pool and washing and drying facilities available for your use.
Our booking came with a wonderful continental breakfast.

Fantastic Gem

Stayed at Hawkdun Lodge during our South Island tiki tour and have to say exceeded our expectations.
Had the Eweburn room and was spacious, modern and the most comfortable bed.
Would recommend to anyone doing the Central Otago rail trail.
Richard and his team were very friendly and helpful.

Rooms were perfect.

Host was extremely friendly and helpful and the spa pool and massage chair were amazing!

Perfect place to stop if you are on the rail trail and hawkdun lodge is very close to trail.

Secure parking for the bikes and the breakfast was lovely as well.

Lovely place to stay

A friendly welcome by Richard, who was helpful during our stay. We had an elegant, beautifully decorated, spacious studio room. While the room had a small kitchenette with microwave and fridge, we were able to use the very well appointed communal kitchen/dining/lounge area. Great to have the use of a washing machine and dryer too (free). Can definitely recommend.

3rd night on the rail trail

Lovely warm welcome by Diane. The rooms are clean and tidy and we appreciated the biscuit to have with our cup of tea. There is a hot tub available and a room to store the bikes out of the weather. Breakfast was plentiful and nice. A nice place to stay and the BBQ dinner delivered to the property was fantastic.

Couldn’t ask for better!

Beautiful end to a day cycling. Lovely facilities, and an added bonus having access to a spa. Recommend the self cater BBQ pack for dinner as the food was delicious! I want to thank the lovely staff that accommodated me a bit longer as I was struck down with a tummy bug. They were understanding and provided me with a place to rest until my shuttle arrived. Would highly recommend.

Great accommodation and Hospitality

We stayed here as part of a tour. Our room was great with plenty of room and great amenities and bed. The hot tub room was an added bonus. Also had access to a washer and dryer which was timely. We used the common room for supper and breakfast. Very nice indeed. Definitely worth a stay if you are in the area. Very close to the Central Rail trail as well.

The Best!

I stay in hotels/motels a lot, and on a increasing level.

Hawkdun Lodge would represent the best value for money I have encountered. Emailed in the morning to see if there was availability. Dealt with Diane through email, who booked my room. On arrival, Richard showed me to my room. Spacious, well thought out, tasteful and  comfortable. Free WiFi, that was fast and easy to connect too. Chairs in the cupboard so I could sit on the patio and read a book. Everything was of a very high standard, and there is nothing I can fault this place on. Absolutely beautiful place to stay! They offer free washing facilities which is rare!! Parking directly outside unit. Double glazed, and blackout curtains made for a brilliant sleep…

I will be making a trip to Ranfurly again, and will not look elsewhere for a bed. The Maniatoto is always worth the trip. With Naseby and Saint Bathans on Hawkduns doorstep, just do it!

Great accommodation and location

We loved our stay at Hawkdun Lodge especially the large, well set up communal dining, lounge and kitchen area! It’s close to rail trail, spacious rooms with comfy seating, kitchenette and bathroom with heated floors! Especially loved the BBQ pack pre-ordered and supplied by Maniototo Cafe … perfect steak, great variety of salads and beautiful dessert! Highly recommend!

Awesome Stay – Great nights rest during the Rail Trail

Can’t say enough about Hawkdun Lodge, for our one nights stay on 30th Dec 2016, while doing the Otago rail Rail. Really handy to Trail itself, easy to find, and pleasant hosts. We booked one night in the larger suit, which was a modern clean apartment styled Motel unit ( breakfast not supplied). Layout was superb and had plenty of privacy from our neighbours, while still having a good outlook. Great ‘wifi’ service, excellent bed, and awesome bathroom ( with spa bath). We were able to store our bikes in their bike store /large store area. Reasonably priced, Hawkdun lodge was probably the best value of our stays on the Trail. Only one very slight niggle was that there was a full kitchen, but with only very minor appliances and utensils ( not really a problem as we kept dinner simple, and there was certainly everything to make breakfast). Would definitely stay again and really applaud the Managers/Owners.

Cost stop

Cycled into hawks in lodge first impressions clean lined one level motel. The room was very generous with a king bed which was so comfortable with great pillows ! 2armchairs a table and a large kitchenette with everything one needed . The bathroom good size with heated floors so nice and the bedroom air on which one can pre set temp and forget . Included a contentiel breakfast which was substantial. The laundry free to use also a room to store bikes overnight great place !

Beautiful place to stay. Great Hosts.

Stayed one night whilst riding the Otago Rail Trail. Beautiful clean and very comfortable large room with large bathroom. Spa, breakfast area, common room, bike storage room and laundry facilities are all first class. Continental breakfast was also very good. Richard the host/owner was a nice guy and obviously focussed his guests are comfortable and enjoy their stay. Thoroughly recommend Hawkdun Lodge as a must stay if in Ranfurly.

What a treat

We booked one night at the lodge and was pleasantly surprised at the accommodation. Rooms appear new and very tastefully decorated. Beds had electric blankets and bathroom had under floor heating. Although we didn’t take advantage of the spa pool room it looked very nice. No views but after a day travelling through the ever changing scenery we were in sensory overload.

Hotel Heaven

We rode into Ranfurly on the Otago Rail Trail and the hotel was very easy to spot. This property is immaculate and extremely well kept and we were greeted by the cheerful hosts. The rooms are very modern with every amenity, a spa room and a secure room to store your bikes – it was a shame we were only there for one night. The Hawkdun room was a communal dining/lounge room where breakfast is served and it is just gorgeous, ideal for large groups. I would definitely recommend staying at the Hawkdun Lodge.

Great choice in the town centre

We stayed 1 night while in the trail. Near new, friendly owners, great spa and common dining. No views but everything else was excellent. Food from Maniototo cafe was delivered to be cooked on bbq and was delicious. …thanks

A Great Stop

Stayed overnight whilst doing the Rail Trail.

The room was comfortable and clean. We were able to do some washing and Richard kindly found us a drying rack. We had ebikes and we were able to charge them in a separate bike shed….very nice touch.

After so much restaurant dining we collected a couple of steaks and some salad ingredients, and made use of the lovely communal lounge and kitchen facilities. A simple meal was “just the ticket”.

Absolutely outstanding accommodation!

The quality of facilities and service at Hawkdun Lodge far exceeded my expectations; in fact, this is the best accommodation I have experienced in all of New Zealand. The room was very spacious and designed with beautiful decor. Every potential need in the room was provided for: bathroom items, including a number of towels and stunning toiletries; kitchen equipment was set out for making hot drinks, with a large selection of hot beverage items; reliable wifi, and DVDs were made available for the room at reception. The large spa and bathhouse was immaculate: a warm, sunny space with lounge chairs, a massage chair (!!) and extra bath towels provided. The communal kitchen was more like an upmarket dining area and a comfortable sitting room combined. Every piece of high-quality cooking equipment was available to use and the beautiful couches, large TV and DVD selection made for a relaxing evening. The hosts were extremely friendly and quickly provided an enclosed space for our Rail Trail bikes to be stored. The accommodation was inexpensive and I would stay again at Hawkdun Lodge for a holiday, even if I wasn’t “travelling through” the Maniototo region.

Off the Trail

Richard was spectacular! Bent over backwards to ensure we had everything needed to rest, relax and recuperate. The lodge had a wonderful spa and was a hop, skip and a jump from the main village. Even had a specifically dedicated room in which to store our bikes. Highly recommended.

Comfortable and clean

Stayed here for one night and can not fault the comfort and cleanliness of the unit. We stayed in a spa suite which had a sky light but no shade so was a bit bright in the morning despite good black out blinds on the main windows. Having spoken to the owners since believe this will be addressed. Overall good value for money and friendly response to the issue we addressed directly, Nice decor and bathroom amenities.

Well run and modern

Just on the edge of town and a convenient walk back in. Nice modern rooms with a fridge and kitchenette area and good bathroom. The breakfast is taken at a lovely room on the other side of the quad in a bright room with big TV and is served by a nice lady who made toast and organised the cereals and fruit. Nice preserves. The bikes are stored in a special room.

Perfect accommodation

We had a lovely stay at Hawkdun Lodge- from the friendly and very helpful greeting and tour of the property to the many facilities it provides to ensure you have a comfortable stay. The beds and bedding were so comfortable and the rooms were spacious with everything we needed. As an added bonus the shared lounge was amazing- full kitchen facilities, great seating areas to have a meal or play games and couches to relax and watch a movie. This area was unexpected for a motel but it was so incredible. To top it off the spa was great for the sore muscles after cycling and the complimentary washing and drying facilities were much needed. Couldn’t fault anything about the facility or our stay.

I had a fabulous time at Hawkdun Lodge

I have no suggestions for how you could have made my stay more enjoyable. I had a fabulous time at Hawkdun Lodge and thought your accommodation was beautifully set up. My unit was gorgeous, spotlessly clean, very comfortable and a lovely home for my five nights. Richard was a wonderful host and I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Hawkdun Lodge and in Central Otago. Thanks so much.

Couldn’t have been better

Everything was perfect from the reception to the rooms and to the continental breakfast – and the weather.
Richard was most personable and extremely helpful and he and Sue most caring when one of our group required medical advice and eventually a visit to the hospital. Their sympathetic attention to him at stages during the day while the rest of the group was away went beyond that of usual motel management. And the generosity of making another room available at no extra charge !!!
All was greatly appreciated.

A top rail trail accommodation choice

This nice clean and comfortable accommodation rates as one of our rail trail highlights. We were welcomed by the owner on arrival. (In fact all the staff were friendly and went out of their way to meet ones needs.) There was a purpose built bike room to store our bikes in out of the weather. The communal breakfast was just something special. A fantastic idea for a motel like setting.

Wonderful

Our rail trail partner booked this accommodation for us and it was wonderful!
The lodge is easy to find just off the rail trail and when we arrived the service was great. Our host explained where to store our bikes, showed us our room and explained some of the facilities – it has a spa!
Our room was large with plenty of space. It had a medium sized kitchenette with complimentary biscuits.
The bathroom was lovely too with lots of fresh towels and toiletries.
The room had a good sized tv and heat pump so was warm when we arrived.
Our breakfast the next morning was in the communal lodge which was wonderful and a lovely lady was happy to accomodate us! There was a good selection of food to choose from.
Definitely recommend and would return to this accommodation in a heartbeat!

It’s got everything

Right next door to the Otago Rail Trail and 5 minutes walk to town the Hawkdun Lodge is a great place to stay. Ample size rooms with separate bedroom (huge bed), bathroom and lounge. Everything was modern clean and tidy, it was lovely to be able to spread out and relax in such an awesome room. Free use of a washing machine and dryer was unexpected and welcome surprise after a few days of unwashed gear. The common room for meals had modern appliances, large TV and heaps of room to sit and eat or just chat, It’s décor was really interesting and practical.

An oasis of luxury on the Rail Trail!

What a lovely place to arrive at after a long ride! Huge, spacious room, massively comfortable bed. A spa- what a delight for tired muscles! We were able to do a big load of washing for free- another bonus! Breakfast was totally adequate and available early. The Lodge is only a short walk to the Art Deco parts of Ranfurly, and 50m from the Rail Trail. Thoroughly deserves its certificate of excellence!

Ranfurly best!

We arrived early but it was no trouble for the managers as they already had our room ready. A nice, spacious, clean room with a much appreciated Spa Bath after riding the Rail Trail. Breakfast was included and was fresh and ready for us as we had an early start. It was great talking to the manager who was very knowledgeable about the local area.
